Julie was born in 1998 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Jeff and Laura Jackson. She has one younger sister, Jenna, who studies Marine Science and French. Julie lived in Tuscaloosa until she was 26, when she moved down to Gulf Shores.
Julie graduated from Northridge High School in 2016 and then attended the University of Alabama for her undergraduate career, majoring in Philosophy and Political Science. She also completed a liberal arts minor through the Blount Undergraduate Initiative Program (now the Blount Scholars Program), a competitive program centered around the liberal arts, focused on proficiency in writing and the ability to think critically and approach subjects from several different points of view.
During her senior year, she served as the president of the UA chapter of Phi Sigma Tau, the International Honor Society for Philosophers. She also completed an Honors Thesis in Philosophy, writing and defending a paper exploring the metaphysical problem of boundaries. Her successful oral defense of her paper resulted in her being awarded High Honors in Philosophy.
After completing her undergraduate degree in May 2020, Julie attended the University of Alabama School of Law. During her law school career, Julie focused primarily on real estate and probate law and family law. She completed an independent study as part of her coursework analyzing the socioeconomic positives and negatives associated with short term rental housing. She also spent a year participating in the law school’s Mediation Clinic. While working with the clinic, she served as a mediator in several divorce and child custody proceedings in the Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court. Julie graduated law school and began working for Andrew R. McKinney, P.C. in 2023.
In her spare time, Julie enjoys watching TV, listening to true crime podcasts, completing word puzzles, doing nail art, and playing with her dog, Sophie, and her cat, Schrodinger, both of whom she adopted when she was in undergrad.
